Being in the maternity apparel industry I seem to know endless amounts of beautiful mommies-to-be and although I feel slightly intrusive, I love to ask if the mommy-to-be knows the sex of the baby.

I would have to say from what I hear; it is about a 50/50 split between those who find out and those who don’t. There are various reasons for the decisions people make on wanting to find out or not but, I will never forget one friend telling me that she had to find out because the fact she was pregnant was a big enough surprise and she didn’t need any more.

I love to guess the sex of the baby and I am sure this would get slightly tiring for the expecting mom but as a witness to this incredible moment it is so much fun! I also love to reference old wise tales I have heard such as when a women’s skin is poor during pregnancy she is having a girl because the baby is stealing all her beauty.

There is definitely no shortage of non-medical, fun ways to tell or guess the sex of the baby. Over the weekend the Chinese Gender Chart was shown to me by a friend who is working on getting pregnant and I love it! I am of course very curious to know if this chart holds to be true. Apparently, it is said to be 90% accurate.
