I’ve been using micellar water for years but over the past year, I started using a biphase eye makeup remover just for my eye makeup. I think it helped end eye irritation because it’s an oily moisturizing formula that takes my eye makeup off easily. Micellar water did a fine job but I needed to pull and rub harder. I recommend getting an oily makeup remover just for your eye area.
What is the best micellar water for sensitive skin? For reference, I have oily, acne-prone sensitive skin so I triple cleanse my face every time I wear makeup. I think it’s normal for micellar water to sting around and in the eyes. I used Simple micellar water and switched to Bioderma sensitive micellar water. I really like both, but Bioderma sensitive is made for sensitive skin and people with sensitive skin tend to love it.
I used to have issues with stinging around my eyes but I think it had to more with the state of my skin than the micellar water.
Micellar waters can be used alone or to remove makeup. Personally, I only use micellar water to remove my makeup. I have tried using it to cleanse and tone my face and it did not do a good job because my face broke out the next day. I’ve been dealing with bad skin ever since I hit puberty but my entire life I’ve had sensitive skin.
My worst breakout was when I went away to college and the tap water had me breaking out all over my back, chest, and face.
If you haven’t tried micellar water it’s a makeup remover, skin cleanser, & moisturizer all in one! It looks and feels like water but has oil molecules suspended in it that trap oil and dirt from your skin.
What Is The Best Micellar Water For Sensitive Skin?
Just soak a cotton pad with the micellar water and wipe it over your face. That’s it. That is your skincare routine. Has anyone else used micellar water? What’s your experience been?
Bioderma – Sensibio H2O – Micellar Water – Cleansing and Make-Up Removing – Refreshing feeling – for Sensitive Skin
Bioderma’s micellar water #1 Affordable Makeup Remover For Sensitive Skin, is the most popular great for all skin types, and it’s even gentle enough for sensitive skin. It cleans the face thoroughly and it does not sting my eyes. It leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized. A cleansing and make-up removing water that respects the fragility of sensitive skin
The micellar water that started it all. I remember googling the best makeup remover out there and this always came up. After using three bottles of this, I decided that’s enough testing and that I can now fully review the product.
I have tried over 20 different micellar water and I want a remover that is gentle on the sensitive skin around the eyes. As of today, Bioderma is everything I’m looking for. I don’t need to try several applications before all of my eye makeup is removed. It’s gentle on the sensitive skin around the eyes. It doesn’t have the oil. A little goes a long way. I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say about it.
Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water for Sensitive Skin
Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water says it’s for dry skin, but works perfectly for my combo sensitive skin. It leaves my face feeling clean and smooth. It’s skincare’s most awarded product, gently lifts makeup and impurities out, and instantly boosts skin’s hydration by 90%.
Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water contains no color or dyes, harsh chemicals, or artificial perfume, making it perfect for dry, dehydrated, or even sensitive skin. I saturate a cotton round and wipe my face with it anytime I want to feel clean but am too lazy to actually wash my face. It also works great to remove makeup, more so than the Garnier brand which is pretty popular. It’s super gentle on my very sensitive skin and cleanses well.
Bioré Charcoal Cleansing Micellar Water
Biore’s micellar waters are dermatologist- and ophthalmologists-tested, oil-free, pH-balanced, and hypoallergenic. I’m happy to report that the addition of charcoal and baking soda has not made these formulas irritating whatsoever.
I also like using the big oval-shaped cotton pads with Biore micellar water to remove waterproof sunscreen from my arms and legs when I get home; it works like a charm and I don’t feel bad about using up a more expensive micellar water on large areas of my body. I could also see this hack working well as a quick refresh after a sweaty workout. Just swipe some micellar water on face, neck, chest, arms, and legs and you’re good to go.
I apply it with a cotton round after I take off my makeup or after a shower when I cleanse my face in the shower. I just apply and let it dry. I’ve noticed it’s bringing the filaments to the surface so it’s easy extraction. Biore Charcoal Cleansing Micellar Water is great for oily skin.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup
Before using the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water, my expectations were honestly pretty low. I didn’t think a water-based product was going to be able to break up and remove all of the makeup on my face; foundation, mascara, and all the works.
However, after using it the first time, I was so impressed! I apply a good amount of the water to a cotton round and then just wipe away. It removes makeup instantly and the best part, it doesn’t just wipe the makeup around, it actually removes it.
An additional bonus of the product is that it does not have any fragrance. It really feels as if you are rubbing plain water on the skin. Lately, I have been more conscious about the ingredients that are in the products which I put on my face.
One ingredient, in particular, is one that I try to veer away from. That ingredient: Alcohol. Alcohol in skincare can increase the oiliness of the skin, enlarged pores, and cause irritation. This Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water does not contain any alcohol which is a huge bonus because it has never caused any excess oiliness and thankfully has not enlarged my pores.
I use the Garnier one for makeup removal, including eyes. It’s really gentle and means I don’t need a separate eye make up remover product. Garnier is the best value one I’ve found.
ISDIN Micellar Solution, 4 in 1 Makeup Remover, Cleanser, Hydrating Toner – Suitable for Sensitive Skin

I have adult acne and very sensitive dry skin and almost every pre-cleanser and toner irritate my skin. But this micellar water has done wonders for me! It is soothing, non-irritating, and gets almost every ounce of makeup off my face before I deep cleanse. It also helps tone and hydrate after I cleanse my face and preps my skin for the next steps and products in my routine.
La Roche-Posay Micellar Cleansing Water for Sensitive Skin
La Roche Posay’s micellar water is made for sensitive skin. It is uniquely formalized not to cause irritation. Not only does it do this for the skin but also for the eyes. More importantly, this solution has not broken me out which is a win in my book because my skin tends to be very sensitive when trying new products.
La Roche Posay’s micellar water makeup remover works wonders with my sensitive skin. Also, it works great as a cleanser for your eyelash extensions, just get a q-tip to soak up a bit of the liquid and wipe this on your eyelash extensions. It is affordable for such a great quality product from France.
By far one of the best ways I use this is in the morning. I typically don’t wash my face in the morning with a heavy cleanser. I have instead replaced morning washes with this micellar water as it still gives me a gentle cleanse so I don’t feel as groggy in the morning. I rinse with some warm water or even a warm towel and I am good to go.
Can I Use Micellar Water Every Day?
Yes, micellar water is known for being a cleansing and makeup removing solution that’s effective yet mild and super versatile. I’ve gone from regarding it as a skincare novelty to something that I have to have in my medicine cabinet at all times. Micellar Cleansing Water features micelle cleansing molecules that pull oil and dirt away from the face. Our all-in-1 cleanser gently takes all makeup off, no rinsing, no harsh rubbing.
The micelle molecules in Micellar Cleansing Water cluster together to lift dirt, oil, makeup, and impurities on contact. No rinsing, no harsh rubbing – it’s an entirely different way to cleanse. You’ll see why when I list all the ways I use it:
- As an AM cleanser if I want something gentle.
- As an all-over oil-free makeup remover.
- As an eye makeup remover that gets rid of waterproof mascara and eyeliner with minimal rubbing.
- As a quick refresh any time of the day.
- As a nighttime cleanser when I’m feeling lazy and want to do my entire skincare routine from the comfort of my couch with Netflix on.
- As a versatile cleanser/makeup remover/all-in-one product when I’m traveling.
So all in all, I will recommend buying the Garnier Micellar Water because it performs well and it is affordable. If the scent is a problem, then go for the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water. If you want a good, best-performing micellar water, go for the ISDIN Micellar Solution Micellar water. For a more affordable one but is similar to the Bioderma in terms of performance, then the Biore Micellar water is the best option if you don’t mind wasting a lot of plastic bottles.
